Last June 26th we had the first meeting to discuss about the organization we will create to host The Human Project. This meeting was coordinated by the state secretary for Development, Science and technology and its focus was to analyze the legal statement of the so called “Organização Social – OS” (Social Organization), which seems to be the best type of organization for THP. In fact, an OS is an NGO that receives a certification from the state government and/or the federal government. One difference between an OS and the typical NGOs is the fact that its management board has to be composed by representatives from public sector (20-40%) and civil society. As we intend to make THP an example of public-private partnership this type or legal statement seems to be ideal. Usually OS are created and maintained by the government and in our case it would be created by civil society and its financial sustainability would be based on a public-private partnership and also on its capacity to develop services on demand. There are still several studies to be done and I will keep you informed about the progress.
